Recovery helicopters

Black hawk UHL60 Arpia FAC FAC 4132 & FAC 4135 helicopter post-accident recovery |
|
The SUDAIR Corp. / SS Helitech Inc., Joint Venture represented in Colombia by SUDAMIN Aeronautica y Defensa SA, under contract with the Colombian Air Force -FAC-; developed the engineering and work for the recovery of two Black Hawk UH60L helicopters, which crashed in military operations against narco-terrorism. The rates of destruction of the aircraft were assessed between 70% and 80%.
Because the refusal of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to provide the spare parts to the joint venture, it was necessary to investigate and implement the manufacture and repair of structural parts, rebuilding the whole electrical wiring and repair or replacement of most components of the helicopters.
Helitech SS Inc., Sudair Corp. and the FAC observed in this project a unique opportunity, because of all the aspects and circumstances that both parties should pass through. The FUERZA AÉREA COLOMBIANA urgently required an alternative because of the difficulties presented in similar contracts with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and Helitech, while they had experience in other Sikorsky products; they do not have enough experience in the UH-60.
Accordingly, with the support of the FAC and the commitment and professionalism of the Joint Venture, it was possible to complete the long and complex work to return the certificate of airworthiness for the aircraft and recover for the FAC, an operationally capacity almost lost several months before.
Sudair Corp. manifests its immense satisfaction with its participation in this high-scientific and technological-level successful logistics. Obstacles of any kind were overcome and the technique, logistics and expertise were acquired to become a unique alternative to develop this type of work worldwide.
